Lentor 1 - 2 Grilled
000 spectators had come to Lentor FC Arena this cloudy day.
René Steinheber was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Johan Danielsson and
Marlo Linggi. Lentor tactics involved an interesting 5-4-1 combination. Lineup: Bakhtar - Selstål, Schaeffer, Bonfeld, Perneta, bin Ghazali - Réti, Wai-Hoe, Phuoc, Bos - Gillstad.
Grilled had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. Lineup: Abed-Sulaiman - Bona, Falkbo, Zywczyn - Jie Siong, Rottman, Abd Hamid, Kek-Tjiang, van Liere - Martinsson, Wai-Kin.
Lentor were relying on their ability to counter-attack.
Sylweriusz Zywczyn gave the visitors the lead 19 minutes into the match to make it 0 - 1. The goal was scored from the penalty spot after a handball in the penalty area. After 25 minutes of game time,
Cao Wai-Kin had an excellent opportunity to add to the visitors' lead, clipping a volley hooked in from the right, but
Duncan Bakhtar was in the right place and tipped the ball to a corner. After a fatal mistake from the away team's right side defence 28 minutes into the match, an alert
Liran Bonfeld bagged the ball for Lentor, levelling the score to 1 - 1. Grilled took the lead after 30 minutes with 1 - 2.
Cao Wai-Kin placed the ball out of reach for the home side's keeper after a fine move, coming in from the left. As
Long Wai-Hoe had, completely unprovoked, swept the legs out from under an opponent in front of a linesman, the referee gave the Lentor player a red card without batting an eyelid. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 2. Grilled held the ball, with a clear 69 percent of possession.
Jörgen Falkbo came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle, but he lifted the ball over
Duncan Bakhtar and it was a little too high and hit the bar. Lentor's
Ove Gillstad made an attempt at equalising 60 minutes into the match, coming in from the right, but the ball hit the post and the defence easily cleared the rebound. Grilled's
Hidde van Liere left the field after 65 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was
Quah Han Kok. After the ball was lifted in from the left,
Shen Kek-Tjiang was on his own in the home side's penalty area and should have scored after 73 minutes, but missed, probably due to lack of concentration. Grilled held the ball, with a clear 68 percent of possession.
Lentor's best player was
Azmin Azram bin Ghazali. However,
Duncan Bakhtar made a disastrous appearance. The most dominating Grilled player was without a doubt
Cao Wai-Kin.
Bukhari Abd Hamid on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 1 - 2.
