wanafunzi 2 - 3 Grilled

83 spectators had come to Wanafunzi Domé this cloudy day. Kenneth Richardson was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Oliver Steffensen and Danilo Fagioli. wanafunzi tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. Lineup: Morales - Lie, Hansson, Knapp - Stuifbergen, Kirop, Matuma, Ianculescu, Ocaño - Medina, Tischler.

Grilled started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Bao-Tam - Alcántara, Tuan-Mu, Liehner - Han Kok, Spirig, Jie Siong, Borup, Olaru - Hjortlind, Hobson.

Grilled seemed to prefer attacking in the middle. Marcus Liehner delivered a good free kick from an excellent position 17 minutes into the game, but luck wasn't on Grilled's side this time and the ball went wide. Grilled took the lead 32 minutes into the game, scoring the 0 - 1 goal after some elegant plays down the middle. Tim Hobson" alt="Tim Hobson">Tim Hobson was the scorer. After 37 minutes of play, Jozias Tischler equalised for wanafunzi after an elegant attack from the right. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, Grilled's Dani Spirig got himself booked. 40 minutes into the game, Ulf Hjortlind was a hair's breadth away from giving Grilled the lead with a shot from over on the left. A prompt block by Néstor Gabriel Morales saved the home team that time. With 41 minutes played, wanafunzi's Paul Ianculescu fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee booked Paul Ianculescu for diving. Grilled's Quah Han Kok was dominating his wing and kept sending fine balls into the opposition's box - Ulf Hjortlind managed to volley one of them into the net to make it 1 - 2 after 42 minutes. wanafunzi's Matthew Medina put his head to a high ball coming in from the right after 43 minutes, but the ball went wide. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 2. wanafunzi claimed to be the more dominant force in the game, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 51 percent.

Lan Tuan-Mu came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle, but he lifted the ball over Néstor Gabriel Morales and it was a little too high and hit the bar. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, Grilled's Dragos Olaru got himself booked. After 71 minutes, Matthew Medina got through on the right and was very close to equalising for the home side, but didn't get the shot away. Jozias Tischler was just a finger's breadth away from an equaliser for wanafunzi with a strike from the left, but Hang Bao-Tam managed to ward the closing shot off to a corner. Shade Kirop seemed to be floating in the air as he elegantly headed in the 2-2 goal for wanafunzi after a corner kick that was nicely executed by Néstor Gabriel Morales. The forty-five minutes were dominated by wanafunzi, with an impressive 52 percent possession of the ball.

After the regular 90 minutes, the agony of overtime followed. A mistake by the home side's central defence after 93 minutes allowed Quah Han Kok to score the 2 - 3 goal for Grilled. Extra time over, Grilled were the victors!

Most important wanafunzi player was Masud Matuma. Shade Kirop on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating Grilled player was without a doubt Quah Han Kok. Tim Hobson" alt="Tim Hobson">Tim Hobson on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 2 - 3.
