Chemistry 4 - 6 Grilled
e to an all-day shower, 84340 paying spectators got to see a match on a pitch-turned-bog at The Acidic City.
Jørn Vindeløv was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Francesco Franco and
Luís Manuel Cunha de Matos. Chemistry tactics involved an interesting 4-3-3 combination. The following players had been chosen: Jolly - Dong Tse, Mustafic, Kai-Xi, Pasieczny - bin Abd Jalil, Broos, Niklasson - Gvozdenović, bin Yusuf, Mcfarland.
Grilled tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. The following players had been chosen: Abed-Sulaiman - Tuan-Mu, Bona, Falkbo - Spirig, Siu-Yue, Kek-Tjiang, Rottman, Paullin - Wai-Kin, Martinsson.
Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of Chemistry. Grilled mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle. After 9 minutes, Grilled's
Ola Martinsson made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 0 - 1. The visitors'
Cao Wai-Kin took advantage of an error due to a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and central backs 24 minutes into the match. 0 - 2 for Grilled. Chemistry's counterattacks were lethal to the opposing defence, allowing
Edward Mcfarland to score easily from the right flank for 1 - 2. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 2. Grilled claimed to be the more dominant force in the game, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 67 percent.
Cao Wai-Kin came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle, but he lifted the ball over
Yann Jolly and it was a little too high and hit the bar.
Edward Mcfarland showed why he is feared on the counterattack, scoring for Chemistry after 58 minutes to make the score 2 - 2. 76 minutes of the match played, and a comedy of errors by the home side gave the visitors a chance at the lead, but
Cao Wai-Kin, after finding himself dashing down on goal from the left with only the keeper to beat, sliced his shot horribly wide. The forty-five minutes were dominated by Grilled, with an impressive 68 percent possession of the ball.
Not having decided a winner at the end of regulation, the match went into extra time. The result was still a draw, so the match had to be settled with penalties.
Boy, does
Marjan Gvozdenović of Chemistry know how to treat a football or what?! He's curled that shot past the keeper and into the top corner of the goal - a great penalty! 3 - 2. Boy, does
Ola Martinsson of Grilled know how to treat a football or what?! He's curled that shot past the keeper and into the top corner of the goal - a great penalty! 3 - 3. Chemistry's
Mirza Mustafic penalty shot was very well placed but
Ahmed Abed-Sulaiman went the right way, blocking it spectacularly. The score was still 3 - 3. Grilled's
Jörgen Falkbo made no mistake.
Yann Jolly didn't have a chance. 3 - 4. Chemistry's
Eric Niklasson didn't hesitate but
Ahmed Abed-Sulaiman managed the save, resulting in an unchanged 3 - 4 score. Grilled's
Shen Kek-Tjiang coolly put the ball past
Yann Jolly. 3 - 5. Oh, the sweet feet of technical
Remeli bin Abd Jalil... His left one gave Chemistry a lovely goal. 4 - 5. Grilled's
Jon Andrea Rottman coolly put the ball past
Yann Jolly. 4 - 6. Chemistry's
Alfred Pasieczny cockily booted the ball with a short-and-fast instep. The penalty, going just wide of the mark, didn't produce a goal. Grilled's
Dani Spirig was seemingly taken by the gravity of the moment, and produced a badly struck penalty - right into the arms of
Yann Jolly. Score still 4 - 6.
Most important Chemistry player was
Eric Niklasson.
Yann Jolly was a disappointment, however. The most dominating Grilled player was without a doubt
Ahmed Abed-Sulaiman.
Lan Tuan-Mu on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 4 - 6.
