Grilled 2 - 0 Footwork
irly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 58295 to The Cooking Pot.
Mikael Ahlstedt was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Tero Pekkanen and
Lionel Canovas. Grilled had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Dias Paes - Ãrva, Lik-Tsun, Talib - Penati, Branbilla, MacKinnon, Han Kok, è¾¾è£ (Darong) - Rotteveel, bin Ku Zainol.
A 4-3-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Footwork. They fielded: Zebir - van Raaij, Nică, Mostert, Dürmeier - dos Anjos, Häggdahl, Genchi - Bessonoff, bin Mahmood, bin Said.
Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for Footwork on this day. After 6 minutes of play,
å° (Feng) è¾¾è£ (Darong) gave the home team a 1 - 0 lead after an attack coming in from the right. The referee showed Grilled's
Zoltán Ãrva the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Unfortunately for Footwork,
Ephraim van Raaij was injured when the game became more physical, and he had to leave the field.
Jean-Patrick de Rassenfosse replaced him. After 12 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by
Maikel Rotteveel might have resulted in another goal for Grilled. However,
Omar Zebir made a spectacular save.
Maikel Rotteveel almost managed to score another goal for Grilled, coming from the right, but his header was tipped to a corner by the visitors' keeper. 1 - 0 was the score after the first half. This half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 63 percent of the time.
Grilled's
Subri bin Ku Zainol was delighted to score the 2 - 0 goal after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper and into the net, following some good attacking movement on the right wing after 67 minutes. At this point in the game, defending their lead became the main priority for Grilled. Footwork's
VÃtor dos Anjos got himself booked for a foul. Due to a severely mistimed tackle,
å° (Feng) è¾¾è£ (Darong) of Grilled spent some time on the grass writhing in agony before he could get up and continue the game. Many in the crowd felt the referee was being too lenient when he only showed Footwork's
Edson Mostert a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 84 minutes into the game.
Han Lik-Tsun had a fantastic opportunity to put Grilled up another goal 85 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar. The defensive line of Footwork created a counterattack through the middle that gave
Giancarlo Genchi a good look at the goal, but his shot glanced harmlessly off the crossbar. The game was close to savage at times, and Footwork's
Edson Mostert received a second yellow card after 87 minutes, his ticket out of the game.
Zoltán Ãrva was the unlucky victim and couldn't continue the game, so Grilled's
Weng Seng-Huat had to come off the bench. 89 minutes in, Footwork's
Valeriu Nică received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. After an industrious effort down the middle,
Subri bin Ku Zainol could have closed the game off after 89 minutes, but his finishing shot hit the post. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 60 percent of possession.
Grilled's top performer was clearly
Valdir Dias Paes.
Weng Seng-Huat turned in a dismal performance, however. The most dominating Footwork player was without a doubt
Azmil bin Said.
Jean-Patrick de Rassenfosse was a disappointment, however. The match ends 2 - 0.
