Grilled 1 - 2 Chemistry
013 punters turned up at The Cooking Pot, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came.
Călin Anghelescu was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Andre Rameder and
Helmut Schön. Grilled tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. The following players took the field: Beckman - Zywczyn, Lik-Tsun, Bona - Spirig, Han Kok, MacKinnon, Paullin, Jie Siong - Rotteveel, bin Ku Zainol.
Chemistry tactics involved an interesting 3-4-3 combination. The following players had been chosen: Lantos - Chang Chin, Kai-Xi, Dong Tse - Bryant, Caen-Khim, Kum-Leong, Haafkens - Ladzim, Železnik, El Boubakri.
Grilled mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle. Chemistry tried to focus their attacks down the middle. Some great play up the middle by Grilled led to a chance for
Maikel Rotteveel to get the go-ahead goal after 22 minutes, but the shot hit the crossbar. Grilled could have put themselves ahead after 28 minutes but
Maikel Rotteveel missed a volley shot on a ball coming in from the right. Grilled's
John MacKinnon left the field after 33 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was
Lim Chuan Jing.
Mohamed El Boubakri acted with superior experience when, 34 minutes into the match, he predicted a pass, intercepted it and then finished off with a goal. 0 - 1 for Chemistry! 0 - 1 was the halftime score. This half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 54 percent of the time.
Chemistry's
Oh Dong Tse received a play slashing through the home side's central defense after 46 minutes, and chipped it past the keeper to score the 0 - 2 goal. The home crowd was not pleased with that one. After this, Chemistry lowered the tempo in order to concentrate on their defensive efforts. Grilled's
Quah Han Kok was shown a yellow card after 48 minutes for slicing down an opponent. Unfortunately for Chemistry,
Michael Bryant was injured when the game became more physical, and he had to leave the field.
Noël Broos replaced him. As the captain was no longer on the pitch,
Zou Kai-Xi took over the role of being the Chemistry captain.
Mohamed El Boubakri came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle, but he lifted the ball over
Brad Beckman and it was a little too high and hit the bar. Grilled refused to be intimidated and, breaking through the middle,
Han Lik-Tsun managed to slip the ball home for 1 - 2. This half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 59 percent of the time.
Grilled's best player was
Han Lik-Tsun.
Lim Chuan Jing was a disappointment, however. The most dominating Chemistry player was without a doubt
Mohamed El Boubakri.
Remo Haafkens turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 1 - 2.
