Grilled 2 - 3 Chemistry
392 spectators arrived at The Cooking Pot, where weather conditions were pretty good for football.
Anders Adelgård was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Mario Vit and
Uğur Boğ. Grilled had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. Lineup: Abed-Sulaiman - Zywczyn, Talib, Bona - Han Kok, Paullin, Kek-Tjiang, Spirig, Jie Siong - bin Ku Zainol, Martinsson.
Chemistry tactics involved an interesting 3-4-3 combination. The following players took the field: Lantos - Kai-Xi, Broos, Dong Tse - Caen-Khim, Bryant, Niklasson, Kum-Leong - Železnik, El Boubakri, Ladzim.
Grilled clearly preferred using their ability to attack in the middle. Chemistry used their ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. 6 minutes into the game,
Mohamed El Boubakri had a great chance to put his team ahead, but his kick from the left went wide. Grilled took the lead 18 minutes into the game by 1 to 0, as
Dani Spirig elegantly received a long range pass through the middle, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar. With 34 minutes played,
Shen Kek-Tjiang could have brought this one home for Grilled as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high. With 40 minutes played, Grilled's
Shen Kek-Tjiang tried to nail the coffin shut, but his shot from the left glanced off the top of the bar to fall behind the net. 1 - 0 was the score after the first half. Chemistry claimed to be the more dominant force in the game, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 54 percent.
Shahrulnizam Ladzim tied the game at 1 - 1 after 61 minutes, when he converted an incredible pass from the right. The guests took the lead 76 minutes into the match, after a right-side attack resulted in
Michael Bryant scoring the 1 - 2 goal. Grilled caught their opponents out with a clever counterattack down the right wing 82 minutes into the match.
Fabian Bona was able to finish off the move - 2 - 2. A mistake by the home side's central defence after 87 minutes allowed
Qin Caen-Khim to score the 2 - 3 goal for Chemistry. Just a few inches to the right, and the visitors could have had a goal 88 minutes into the match.
Martin Železnik surely wishes he could do that free kick over again. The referee showed Chemistry's
Eric Niklasson the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Grilled were forced to a substitution as
Subri bin Ku Zainol couldn't continue playing due to the rough treatment, forcing
Dimitri Simon to come in from the sidelines. This half belonged to Chemistry, who controlled the ball 52 percent of the time.
Most important Grilled player was
Ahmed Abed-Sulaiman. However,
Quah Han Kok made a disastrous appearance.
Michael Bryant performed admirably for Chemistry. However,
Noël Broos made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 2 - 3.
