Chang Leng Turns Pro
18 year-old Grilled Birds trainee Lim Chang Leng signed his first professional contract with Lithuanian V.31 outfit www.krepsinis.pro today, after accepting a free transfer. He is well aware that this is but the first step, what with new boss Auksutis Timmermans recruiting a total of eleven youngsters today, if with Lim the only Asian representative.
Wings scout Mok Feng De revealed that Lim had originally been a forward when he first arrived at the academy, and moreover one who was known for his improvisation. The youth squad was however stacked at that position after awhile, and he would gamely agree to try out for defence, and distinguished himself there as well.
"On top of that, he takes a mean free-kick too." Mok added. "The intangibles to succeed are all there."
It was also a good day for Rancher Rabbits utility man
Richard Ham, who finally confirmed his apprentice deal with the senior squad a fortnight after graduating from their academy at the same age. Ham is not expected to feature much with the first team, but he has proven to be a hit in the dressing room, if nothing else.
