Two former Chicken Wings youth academy buddies would gain transfers out today, with 19 year-old forward Abang Khairil Isa Helmi leaving for Guangdong to play for H.A.L VI.995 outfit jaychou, and 17 year-old goalkeeper David Trudgian going the other direction to Hungary, to ply his trade for Debrecen-based CzegaFC.II, of the H.A.L VI.840.
Neither were under any illusions about the hills that they have yet to climb, with both clubs taking them on as part of a mass recruitment spree. However, simply obtaining a contract had to be taken as an achievement these days, as Trudgian noted. "Really, I wasn't expecting it, and my mother was in two minds as to whether I should accept. But hey, you only live once!"
