Nuts To Ajaks

Grilled captain Ha Qicai bemoaned the three points dropped at home, but acknowledged that the team had been living dangerously for some time. "We never quite adapted to their close-up pressing - they did not give space for our midfield to operate optimally." the former Hong Kong youth international assessed. "But if we replayed this fixture ten times, I'd still have us winning six or seven of those."

There would be a shakeup at the top of the II.2 table, with former leaders newbies are newbies crushed 7-0 by Joker 9, in an entirely unforeseen result. newbies were admittedly reserving their starters against littlehorse in the Singapore Cup, but the sheer mismatch allowed Hans-Ulrich Rehn to reap perhaps the easiest hat-trick of his career thus far.

Not even this allowed Joker 9 to head the table, however, as Arrogancae's 6-0 shutout of The Sing Tigers - albeit far more expected - had them also on fifteen points, and with a far superior goal difference. Constantino Ventura led the rout, with three of his own. As for Tampines Phoenix F.C., they mirrored Grilled's defeat in going down 1-4 to Queenstown MZKs, and are now mired in the relegation zone.

Farmer Bunnies collected their three points against Livernuts with Guan Ming Kum coming close to his first-ever treble, but he had to settle for two, with Lee Yau Tong also coming good late in a match that had Arun Ponnusamy miss a first-half penalty. This had the Buns stay just ahead of Mangrove Pittas in fourth after the latter had hammered Pasir Ris Warriors 5-0, with both clubs overtaking FC Phondle after their 0-4 away loss to a rampant kaloons.

Really McCoys look to be kaloons' only real competition for the III.9 championship, as they saw off a strong FC Jurong Rovers side by 5-2 despite not having home advantage. Much of that had to be down to a legendary performance from 21 year-old Croatian forward Martin Labor, who cranked out a hat-trick by 28 minutes in what might well be the greatest half-hour performance McCoys has seen in some time.

Grilled International's stroll towards the title continued unabated as they crushed SFK Ajaks 6-0 away, as Chua Jun Long recorded his twelfth career hat-trick, if only to remain one behind Umut Koza in the Golden Boot stakes. Snæbjörn Sigfússon had a raft of chances too only to have a very bad day in front of goal, but with Elefanten der Wüste upset 0-2 by AC Rabissale, International are five points ahead of all comers in any case.

Nice AS are International's new closest competitors after they defeated Ponyhof 3-1 at home, overturning Bernd Gapp's 28th minute stunner against the run of play. Dentinhos Int. are right behind them as they were powered by Wojciech Śliwak's closing brace past the Baboons, in a fixture that ended 4-2.
