A standout with hometown outfit FK Polaban Neratovice, Václavík would move to America to join Bulgars at 21 years of age, and he would distinguish himself there as one that did not quite fit any mould. Remarkably, he remained effective enough to feature almost every week, and this versatility would persuade Farmer Bunnies to splash out over eleven million dollars for him.
