Wu was a silky operator with the Pearl Divers' youth academy, and his reputation took him to the U21 World Cup after a short stay at Singapore Terme, before stints in Italy, Honduuras and Turkey. It would be his goalscoring potential with Deportivo Corso that persuaded the Birds management from taking a punt on him, in bringing him back to Singapore.
