Final League Table Position Summary II.1
More Lesser Glories

As campaigns went, there wasn't much to complain about, as both clubs gave every sign of having found - and acclimitized to - their level. Grilled Birds came within a whisker of defending their league title while picking up the Ruby Challenger Cup, while Farmer Bunnies proved their continuing maturity by topping their Division Four cohort.

Grilled's campaign would become entwined with FC Barca Singapore's as the months passed, but there was little indication of the Ang Mo Kio club's potential at the beginning, as the Birds opened with a 6-1 thumping. A string of wins followed as would-be Player of the Season Yuki Irie hinted at the breadth of his versatility, as he imparted to Grilled a box-to-box dynamism that had been sorely lacking.

Parkway Paladins would knock both the Birds and Buns out of cup competition whenever they met, but it was a blessing in disguise for Grilled, who found the Ruby Challenger Cup much more to their taste. They were given a scare by Scallop Soccer Team in the quarterfinals, but recovered to comparatively more comfortable fixtures against Tanglin Winners FC and FC Barca Singapore, winning both 3-1.

Their league form suffered somewhat as Batok Earthquakes claimed all six points from their mid-season doubleheader, as the Grilled veterans began falling in sequence. Mohd Safri bin Mohd Kassim was mostly but a pale echo of his former imperious self, sad to say, and Irie's absence through injury, picked up during the cup final, probably contributed to saiNts United FC's record 8-0 thrashing of the Birds the Sunday after.

What made this even more incongruous was that the Saints would be relegated in due time, alongside fallen giants Blackburn Rovers Fan; Grilled for their part picked up the pieces with consecutive wins against The EV, Claseek and Arcturules to build up to a winner-take-all final showdown against FC Barca, which they ultimately lost by a hair.

Farmer Bunnies' season was mostly unremarkable, save for Enzo Paolo Panzarino's continued goalscoring heroics, and the development of national U-20 pair Lau Chang Wan and Wong Ting Yew. The supporters' main grouse was overwhelmingly about a return to the Third Division, and the Buns would eventually deliver by beating BlueNite in the last round of fixtures to earn a qualification match, before replacing BENG UTD.
