Semifinals Visit
The S-League race once again ended up as a squabble between Chemistry and Herron for the throne, which Chemistry won with a game to spare as Herron tripped up against already-relegated L1verpool in the penultimate game. Grilled fell back to the bottom half of the table, but had a good run in the Singapore Cup as compensation.
This campaign began promisingly enough with a convincing win against FC RaZer Infernus, but the defeat that followed against United Warrior Team reminded Grilled of the difficulties they faced.
Malaysian ex-U-20 striker Subri bin Ku Zainol couldn't inspire Grilled to anything better than a draw and three losses in their next fixtures, which prompted the departure of ageing defender Anders Fredgård and the value purchase of ex-Singapore international Han Lik-Tsun.
The shake-up didn't spare Grilled legend Ola Martinsson either, as Grilled's undoubtedly most famous forward was put to pasture. Maikel Rotteveel took over without missing a step, though, and a bright start saw Grilled clamber back into a safer league position.
A long Cup run finally halted at the hands of eventual winners Rollin' Thunder, leaving Grilled to comfortably achieve a playoff match, handily won against Apostate.
Grilled would never be the same again for some longtime supporters, as Shen Kek-Tjiang also left the side citing his diminishing fitness. Although few could argue with Scottish ex-U-20 John MacKinnon as a viable replacement, a swoop which emphasized Grilled's commitment to experienced talent, the departure of two incomparable titans of the game must have had a deep impact on the team's preparations for next season.
