Back in the top flight, Grilled refused to bring in anyone new, and appeared justified as they raked in fourteen of their first eighteen points, including an opening day 5-0 win over
Geylang Eagles United that propelled them to the top of the S-League for the first time.
Unfortunately, the side soon ran out of steam and proceeded to pick up only two points from the following eighteen, a 6-0 thrashing by Hattrick all the time presaging a 4-3 loss on
penalties to Ampang FC in the Cup. It was extra tough on Shen Kek-Tjiang, who held Grilled up in many of their prior wins, and who had his spot kick fatefully saved.
That blow certainly went to Grilled's core, but they recovered later on to best the legendary Herron for the first time deep into the season. A second victory over hapless Geylang brought
them their best S-League finish to date (fourth), ahead of Herron and HaTT who won their qualification games. Previous winners FC RaZer Infernus however shockingly crashed out in seventh
place.
Herron Bested
A solid showing to be sure, with more cause for cheer as a youth player perhaps to equal Han Kok rose from the ranks. Lee Jie Siong was his name, and judging from his tearing apart of age-
group teams, soccer's indeed his game. Sacara Swashbucklers' striker Cao Wai-Kin arrived in the end season, too late to make much of an impact.
