Nothing would stop Grilled ruling IV.11 in Season Five, as they ended with a plus-65 goal difference and a perfect
14 wins. After the non-recognition of his feats the previous season as no Golden Boots were given out in a one-off
mistake, Hobson was crowned the king of Gamma Stadium as he scored 27 times.
His most memorable goal, however, came in the Singapore Cup. Grilled had qualified for the first time, and didn't even
concede a goal until the fifth round when they faced down Division Two side Team Turismo in a full-blooded contest that
Grilled won 2-1. Hobson scored both, but his masterpiece was yet to come.
The "immortal goal"
Next, Grilled were up against eventual Double winners Hattrick all the time at the peak of their powers. Grilled were
drained by their exertions, but despite being thouroughly outclassed by HaTT, they upheld the romance of the competition
by poking a hole in HaTT's armour.
On Gao Seng-kar's first cross of the day, Tim Hobson soared above Zhu Chang-Ting to nod in and send the full-house crowd
into a frenzy.
Shung-Tat may have made a mistake in signing the dour Miguel Reed and trading young defender Tan Ong away, but he more than
compensated with a second flurry of unearthing young gems. Eurasian playmaker Asher Stanton hopped onto the Grilled
bandwagon, followed by wingback Weng Seng-Huat and then stopper Shen Kek-Tjiang in successive weeks.
