Chernox Cancelled
Easy Does It
Grilled led from start to finish in their qualification match against II.1 champions Chernox, as the visitors fielded an exhausted side that Grilled had a comfortable time against.
Chernox didn't rise to the occasion as Grilled had a full-strength first team waiting for them, and the visitors appeared very lost as Grilled gradually increased the tempo. Seven minutes in,
Shen Kek-Tjiang hit van Liere's diagonal pass in mid-stride, and CherNox goalie Diogo Leão fumbled it into the net to Grilled's great relief.
Grilled were much more relaxed after taking the lead, and this led to Old Martinsson heading in the second as he positioned himself in exactly the right place to meet Han Kok's cross. They then wound it down, satisfied with keeping their S-League status.
Dani Spirig couldn't help but score in the 55th minute as he wasn't picked up thanks to van Liere's powers of attraction, and it was certainly all over as Sid smashed in a penalty kick to bolster the lead to four.
Sid then slipped in the mud and sent another penalty begging, but Grilled were not at all concerned by that, or even by Mohd Firdaus bin Aziz's 83rd minute consolation which was even politely applauded by the home support.
