Fractius Game
Chen Shows Class
Grilled travelled to Lisbon in southwestern Portugal to face the red and grey stripes of FC Fractius, and relied on two predatory strikes from seasoned striker
Chen Chiew-Yen, while
Milen Kolesov showed just why he prefers playing as a midfielder when he missed a hat-trick of chances.
Like an increasing number of teams, FC Fractius subscribed to the counter-attacking strategy, but their early goal came from the most traditional of avenues, a headed corner. The ball initially looked to have been hit out of danger by Alcántara, but a quick-thinking Kenneth Biben blocked the ball down for teammate Vilhelm Gullblad to stymie Bao-Tam with a low header. Chiew-Yen struck back in the 19th minute, as he stood his ground unsupported to nod in a good cross from
Aznan Noor Yadah who cut wide regularly. FC Fractius were caught napping when Kolesov, playing just behind Chiew-Yen, eluded all comers to let loose a volley at goal. Homegrown goalkeeper Miguel Antunes de Carvalho got a hand to that. Grilled didn't let up, and Kolesov was the architect of the second goal, passing it short for Chiew-Yen to take a step up and hit an unstoppable shot into the left side of the goal. Two minutes later,
Peter Åhsten played his part as he found Kolesov free in the penalty area, but the Bulgarian hit it woefully high despite not being put under any pressure.
De Carvalho again proved to be Kolesov's equal when he palmed away a desperate diving header Kolesov in the 54th minute. The rest of the game settled into dull routine as both sides withdrew into their respective halves, and it should have been 1-3 had
Aznan Noor Yadah not hit the crossbar with the whole goal at his mercy.
