Spartak Spirited
Rainy Ruin
Paraguay club Spartak F.C whipped the Grilled reserves on a rainy day at their Emanuelle Antola Ferrara stadium, as even the inclusion of van Liere couldn't lift the Birds to greater heights, or even any height at all.
As with the first team, Grilled suffered from a slow start, and the players looked disconcerted as the hosts moved the ball down the right and scored empathatically though winger Irmbert Küpperbusch. The hosts were typically uncompromising, not allowing Grilled to gain any purchase, and tough English defender Darren Appleby was happy to get booked for denying Hjortlind a good chance in the eighth minute.
Roman Milovanovič put Spartak two up with a shot at Bao-Tam that was powerful enough not to matter, then Küpperbusch again waltzed right by Seng-Huat to strike again. Belmiro Rosel added a fourth, before Appleby joined in the fun with an unstoppable effort down the middle.
Grilled didn't have a prayer, and any benefit they might have gained from the half-time lecture was lost as forward Bing Burks rose majestically to head home a cross from Küpperbusch in the 48th minute. Vicente Silva got the seventh and last, before Sylvain Mazères was booked for a painful tackle on Jie Siong.
