Soldaten Sad
Dávalos Deed
Honduran Division Two club leistungsfähige Soldaten was hammered by Grilled, as they found the going tougher after gaining promotion last season. The overcast weather was conducive to Grilled's mixed passing game, and the hosts barely had any opportunity to unleash their counterattacks.
Grilled took all of three minutes to gain the upper hand, as
Qiu Swee Pheng never took his eyes off the corner from
Tim Hobson. While Soldaten goalie Juan Antonio Salido was quick enough to redirect the goalbound header with his hand, Bukhari was well-placed to walk the ball in.
Qiu's impressive work continued as he put in a testing shot in the 14th minute, and only intervention from Nájera kept that from going in. The hosts then got their first sniff of goal as lone forward Esteban José Cunningham put it wide from long range, only to see Grilled pull ahead thanks to Hjortlind and Jie Siong.
Cunningham must have thought that he had gotten one for his team in first-half added time, as he squeezed in between two Grilled defenders to angle in a shot right at the bottom corner, but he didn't count on Bao-Tam's excellent dive. Worse, there wasn't even time to take the corner kick.
The second period kicked off with
Gao Seng-kar drawing a wonderful reflex stop from Salido off his dramatic diving header, and Grilled soon gave Soldaten a taste of their own medicine with a lightning counterattack that saw
Terkel Borup hitting it into an empty net after Salido had to come out to meet Hobson.
Hjortlind made it five to nothing with a right screamer from twenty-five metres, but the hosts' Gabriel Dávalos would match that and more with a superb curling effort from the edge of the box to prevent a wipeout.
