A Monster Result
Tian Yonghang dared to dream as the victory raised Grilled Birds to second in the table on goal difference, if still four points behind Good Luck FC, who smashed Offshore Haven 8-0. With them set to face Controlar next Sunday, and Grilled going to KickzFC, Tian was of the opinion that further ground could be made up.
"A couple more games go our way, and we are right back in the thick of it." the Grilled head coach asserted. "Thankfully
Joe Reece did the job today, it would have been a shame if we had to settle for a point."
While Avtandil Prastashvili did earn KickzFC their first league win with a counterattacking winner against MyTeamName, it would still be a brave soul to pick the East Coast strugglers over the Birds. Meanwhile, tpyers confirmed at least a playoff spot for themselves in beating Mayuyu AKB48 3-1, although it will take some pretty unlikely combination of scorelines for them to break into the top four.
Farmer Bunnies got a break with a visit from eight-placed Aloka Monsters, and shot up to fifth place with their biggest win of the season, six to nothing. After some initial heroics by Aloka goalie Lee Tong Long,
Amirul Jufri Khairil blasted the opener in from wide, and
Edgar Popienia had them three up at half-time.
Arun Ponnusamy,
Ong Li Jing and
Ho Ah Kian then finished the job, with opposition midfielder RV Krishnan sent off in the 61st minute.
The Buns' survival mission would be aided by losses to their closest rivals, although Brotherhood SG actually did themselves more than proud by taking the lead against FC Sattarian Island via a Rolf Larsson special, before falling 1-3. WhiteSandsMechs also fell behind the Buns after being whipped 1-5 by Mangrove Pittas, with Really McCoys now but a single point ahead following a 2-0 denial at Brighton UK.
Buns boss
Vishnu Tallapaka thought this a fairer representation of his team's performances this season. "We could have done better, but mid-table is about where we rightfully belong for now. We have a difficult game against Mangrove Pittas coming up next, but don't count us out!"
Grilled International followed up their huge result against FC Bojons with a pedestrian 7-1 win over bottom dwellers Ponyhof, with the Austrian hosts barely looking interested throughout.
Chua Jun Long got two as
Helmy Syamsuzaman popped up in injury time, after entering in the 54th minute as an unplanned substitute for
Mohsen Zeynali, who had tweaked his elbow. Ponyhof favourite Felix Handl briefly sparked interest in the home support with his consolation, before normal service resumed.
Amelinho Kickers failed to make up further ground on FC Bojons, however, as their 7-1 margin over SFK Ajaks continued to pale in comparison against the French side's 8-0 against Nice AS. Baboon Show St. Pauli would swop positions with Elefanten der Wüste following a hard-fought 2-1 that saw Rickard Benkoe and Walter Münn off bruised and Ralf Schiedewitz dismissed, but it really didn't matter much either way.
