Deinos 3 - 4 Grilled

Due to an all-day shower, 58353 paying spectators got to see a match on a pitch-turned-bog at Fossil Park. William Mkuchika was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Ólafur Björn Grímsson and Jérémy Burot. The wet pitch made it difficult for technical or quick players to stand out. For once, the players relying on physical strength gained the upper hand. The following players took the field for Deinos: Răducu - Ridwan, Sada - Schlattmeier, Long Hock, Abd El Khalek, Eng Dong, Usel - Salvans, Tarkowski, Mana.

Grilled's starters: Salmiņš - Panigrahi, Jeftić - Parvathaneni, Xin Lee, Mohammad Harun, ter Berg, Dong Chu - Ze Han, Mudaliar, Xin Seng.

Both teams came out with a similar approach to the match, having chosen to start with a 2-5-3 formation. Deinos used their divine (+10) (30) ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. Grilled seemed to prefer attacking in the middle, taking advantage of their divine (+8) (28) level with that tactic. Grilled's Vikram Mudaliar could have put the guests one up after 6 minutes after chasing a through ball from the right, but Florea Răducu was as fast as a snake, grabbing the ball from under his nose. It was obvious that team Deinos had instructions to attack in the middle instead of on the wings. Lech Tarkowski showed why he is feared on the counterattack, breaking through in the middle and scoring for Deinos after 8 minutes to make the score 1 - 0. Vikram Mudaliar finished off a quick charge from the left of the field by chipping the ball just past the home side's keeper, making the score 1 - 1 21 minutes into the match. A slight injury to his right calf muscle meant Che Zambil Ridwan had to leave the match early. It happened after 27 minutes. Kishore Shenoy had already been warming up, and came on for Che Zambil Ridwan. Deinos's Lech Tarkowski tried to break through in the middle repeatedly, but couldn't get past the visitors' defenders. Having been awarded a free kick in an awkward position after 31 minutes, Grilled did not go for a shot but instead fired the ball hard into the 6 yard box. After a brief tussle with his marker, Chu Xin Lee was able to power the ball past the keeper to make the score 1 - 2. Abd El Rahman Abd El Khalek of Deinos received a yellow card after 32 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. After 33 minutes, Fokko Schlattmeier took a hard knock between his legs. He needed a long breather but were eventually able to continue the game. Halftime score was 1 - 2. Deinos had most of the ball, with 51 percent of possession.

Grilled's Moey Xin Seng was shown a yellow card after 47 minutes for slicing down an opponent. After 53 minutes, Grilled's Kalki Parvathaneni burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 1 - 3. The visitors' Heng Dong Chu took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 59 minutes into the match. 1 - 4 for Grilled. Heng Dong Chu would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise. 吴 (Wu) 敬龙 (Jinglong) entered the game for Grilled as the match clock showed 60 minutes. 66 minutes into the match, Deinos's Lech Tarkowski collected a ball sent down the right and put it in the back of the net, narrowing the score to 2 - 4. Deinos players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. The home team's supporters got excited again when Kishore Shenoy broke through the visitors' central defence and caught their keeper off guard, making it 3 - 4. 80 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Mateja Jeftić gave Gilbert Webb a quick hug as he left the field. As Mateja Jeftić exited the field, Bhavya Panigrahi volunteered to be the new set pieces taker. After 89 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving Vikram Mudaliar off the field. Bernie Egan took his place. The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 4 minutes beyond the regular 90 minutes. The match ends 3 - 4. Deinos enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 51 percent of possession.

The most dominating Deinos player was without a doubt Chew Long Hock. Kishore Shenoy turned in a dismal performance, however. Grilled's best player was Chan Ze Han. Kalki Parvathaneni on the other hand, had a terrible day.
