Bob's The Name
The second day of the Trophy of Legends would end as the first had, as Grilled Birds kicked off with a win against Norwegian IV.11 side Yorkshire Kickers. Kickers took the lead in the tenth minute through New Zealand midfielder Braith Masson, but
Lim An Keng thundered back with a brace, with
Mohd Marzuki Khairul and
Chad Thach scoring in between for 4-1. Israeli IV.8 entrants beitar nir were next, and it went into double digits with
Gandhik Chitre on a hat-trick, in a 7-3 win.
Ha Qicai was off at half-time for
Aw Keng Chuan, but he would be back after the final whistle to gamely pose with former Dalian Professional FC star Wang Qicai.
It waas quite another story altogether with English Division Two club BobbyJo, with the II.4 side having just been relegated from the English Premier last season. Swedish veteran Sture Jansson cancelled Chitre's superb header from a top-class
Chad Thach cross in the 16th minute, and it was a thumping after that with Dudley Holland joining Jansson on a brace, in a 6-1 humiliation.
Raúl Himadas remained defiant despite the result. "I don't want to shirk responsibility, but we weren't that bad. A draw wouldn't have been unfair."
The Buns ran dry as they drew one and lost two to the odd goal, with Spanish IV.26 side Atlético Birra first held in a role reversal that had them come up with the bulk of the counters. Swiss V.58 champions Dynamo SG then had Florin Riza put in a corner in the 33rd minute, with Mexican Primera División team Machete8 then having to wait till the 83th minute for Antonio Tamburi to steal the ball off
Gabriel Priebe to score.
Gilberto Sorondo accounted it a good showing against the former Copa Nacional de México winners, despite the defeat. "We held them for long enough, and got our chances to win it. A pity."
Grilled International lost twice with a win sandwiched, as Belgian H.I. V.95 winners Dirkies Team wiped them 4-0, with Taiwanese youngster Chen Tiannan's racing onto a fifty-yarder probably the pick of the lot. International then took it out on H.I. IV.25 side Sparta Cvrcek Lichtenstein, running up four for themselves before Adam Beck could cop one back in the 72nd.
Austrian IV.40 representatives Kleinberg United were the best-matched of the lot, even if International never actually took the lead; Moritz Steinbrugger's ninth minute opener was soon equalled by
Chua Jun Long, but Werner Slama had them up 4-2 following
Umut Koza's terrific start to the second half.
Helmy Syamsuzaman scored immediately after replacing Koza in the last minute, but no leveller was to be found in added time.
