Chambone To Pick
Boon Twice Indeed
Newcomers
Seytek Djekshenkulov and
Li Boon Boon introduced themselves to the Grilled horde in style as they overwhelmed Mozambique Cup holders Chambone FC five-nil in an international friendly at The Cooking Pot.
The match saw the return of Vukota, Madaini and Tzonkov, who was acting captain for the day, to the defence, in additional to the two debuts previously mentioned. Chambone, dressed in their attention-grabbing half-green and half-blue tops, could boast of feared Hungarian striker Viktor Puskás and Latvian Vido Beiziters in midfield, but were relatively light elsewhere.
Grilled were more trigger-happy than usual this day, and influential rightback
Niculae Stanca smashed one in at Italian custodian Andrea De Fazio from well outside the box in the fifth minute. This testing of the goalie continued without abating as
Yvan Lefébure slotted a free-kick under the wall, but De Fazio was too much of an old head to be caught by such a trick.
Fan Xiuyu, frustrated by Grilled's inability to convert their chances, lost his cool and was disciplined with a booking for powering the ball into the terraces after having an offside go against him. He did respond well to that, and was mollified as his effort contributed to Vukota's goal in the 30th minute.
It was then
Li Boon Boon's moment of glory, as the eighteen year-old anticipated Lefébure's crossfield chip and was on hand to put it away with a header at the far post. His strike partners were not shy about extending their congratulations, flattening Li when he attempted to wheel away in celebration.
With Chambone unable to keep up in most areas of the pitch, Grilled were not short on opportunities, and
Yvan Lefébure put them three up in the second half as the defence stood off, and then four through a wonderful free-kick. Sandwiched in between was the departure of teenager Jorge Veríssimo Rocha Tavares, who had looked lost for most of the proceedings.
Li then doubled his delight as he threaded the fifth and last goal between De Fazio's legs, before
Erik Back and
Björn Olsson arrived to stretch their legs for the final ten minutes.
