It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 2-5-3 formation while the visitors instead opted for a 4-3-3. Grilled demonstrated their creative tactics on the field. For their match strategy, BSG TB had decided to use their supernatural (14) ability to counter-attack whenever possible. The crowd groaned its disapproval when
Bhavya Panigrahi missed a free kick that would have given Grilled the lead after 9 minutes. After a fine move down the middle
Aw Keng Chuan nearly put the home side one up with 11 minutes played. His final touch escaped him though and the keeper smothered the ball. BSG TB's counter-attack was impressive and was only stopped by a shocking foul. Somehow, the referee's cards remained in his pocket - a terrible decision!
Biashara Kabeta's resulting free kick was easily saved by the keeper. Making his way up the middle after 19 minutes,
Enrique Baena almost managed to sneak a goal past the visitors' keeper, but
John Akena was ready and blocked it to keep the score level. A foul called during a BSG TB counter-attack resulted in a great chance to score, but
Biashara Kabeta's shot rattled off the post. BSG TB's
Balozi Musoke gave the visitors a 0 - 1 lead after 32 minutes with a superb strike from the right. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 1. Well, look at this! Cardi B is on the Enormotron in naught but giant sunglasses, red tassles, and a Disgustin tank top. I've not seen anything like it before. Some hard work on the right gave Grilled a wonderful opportunity to level the score after 55 minutes, and
Moey Xin Seng stepped up to the challenge, netting the 1 - 1 goal. After 57 minutes, BSG TB put themselves up 1 - 2, as
Henry Muwanga finished off a play from the left with a real rocket. The referee signaled a penalty 66 minutes into the game following a foul that was right on the line.
Biashara Kabeta knocked it home to make the score 1 - 3. As the 70 minute mark approached, the Grilled manager decided it was time for a substitution.
Prokop Mottl reluctantly made way for
Jos Luiz Velho. With the match clock reading 74 minutes, the inexperienced BSG TB team fell into disarray. After 80 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the field, waving
Aw Keng Chuan off.
Mohd Marzuki Khairul took his place. A well-placed free kick brought the home crowd new hope.
Bhavya Panigrahi reduced the away team's lead to 2 - 3. It was announced by the fourth official that he estimated stoppage time to be around 1 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! The match ends 2 - 3. Looks like Nate Silver was right again - his prediction that Grilled would have 62 percent possession in this half was spot on!
Grilled's best player was
Chan Ze Han. Even six year old fans were wincing at the poor play by
Enrique Baena today.
John Akena performed admirably for BSG TB. Good thing
Raynald Mustapha isn't a horse, because he'd surely be sent to the glue factory after that performance.
