Grilled Birds went down 6-2 at Polish Division Four Jabole Czestochowa's Stadium of Voltage, where laughable defending by out-of-sorts
Luis Alcántara and unsupported
Nor Suhaimi bin Che Lah condemned Grilled. It was gloomy in Silesia, probably mirroring Hong Kong defender Qi Dang-Khoa's feelings when the referee gave a spot kick against him after he bumped Chiew-Yen in the area.
Joe Stern was on autopilot for that one, not even bothering to feint as he lashed the ball hard to his left. It was all downhill from there for Grilled, as wingback Olgierd Paradowski set up Daniel Jedynak beautifully to equalise from a corner kick. Poor Nor Suhaimi was outmaneouvered by Jabole's up-and-coming strike talent Pawel Lukaszczyk, who exploited Grilled's single-man central defence nicely. Grilled's
Asher Stanton did a fair job of controlling the call in midfield and Siu-Yue did not shy from advancing, but Grilled's attacks fizzled after several poor bounces of the ball.
New signing Jens Norrstedt of Sweden must have impressed his new paymasters as he collected an infield pass and prodded the ball into goal without fuss soon after the restart. Grilled's defenders looked pitifully small against their opponents' frontline, and another corner put Jabole up 4 to 1 as Piotr Kaczanowski marked an outstanding game with a daring lunge to get the ball through a wall of Grilled players blockading the goalmouth. It was clear at this moment that Grilled's defence would not cut it, and Nor Suhaimi confirmed that as he lost his footing to allow Jabole's captain Helmut Wenzl a free shot on goal, which Huel-Sheng nearly saved but only parried into the roof of the net. Norrestedt got a little excited and laid an out-of-magnitude crunching tackle on Tuan-Mu, copping a yellow card, but Alcántara fluffed the free kick which went to winger Olaf Kujawa, who exchanged a pass before scoring. Pawel Lukaszczyk threatened to bring the total to seven for his team, but Tuan-Mu's boots deflected his effort onto the right post.
Asher Stanton, suprisingly Grilled's most consistent performer for the match, restored some pride with a perfect chip after Kolesov's tireless approach work.
