Grilled celebrated the year 2004 with by unveiling their latest player, Swiss lad Jon Andrea Rottman. Jon joined for a tidy sum of $2 880 000 from FC Mythen-Shooters, but Bakunin reckons that the all-rounded midfielder is worth every cent. "Jon can defend as well as anyone else in the club, but what makes him special is that is passing is also up there with the best. He'll be a terror when we get his playmaking and stamina up."

Some complaints have been made about Grilled splashing a fortune on an 18 year-old, but to these Bakunin gives the example of Hjortlind, the last $2-million plus youngster to be transferred in. "We would have paid over three million for Sicã Voinea of Romania or Alfréd Puskás of Hungary, but both went out of our bid range. Even for Rottman, we had to beat back serious offers from Sonnenbrille Dresden and Fundacion FC of Chile's Division Two."
