Georgian Farewell
The Birds'
Chia Kwang Tse and
Mohd Marzuki Khairul, as well as Farmer Bunnies'
Amirul Jufri Khairil, have very probably made their national U-20 bow in today's 2-0 win over Georgia, which also happened to be Singapore's swansong in the U21 Asia and Oceania Cup. With this, the hosts finish fourth in Group C, overtaking Georgia but well behind Brunei's incredible 27 points from ten rounds. Brunei will now carry the flag forward against Kazakhstan in the quarterfinals, with Palestine qualifying second on 16 points, just one ahead of Uzbekistan.
It was a bittersweet moment for Marzuki, who collected his second cap while putting up a great supporting performance behind eventual Man-of-the-Match Abdullah Nadim. "I would have loved to have featured more, but then I remember that there are many excellent youngsters who will never get the chance to pull on the national jersey." he commented. "Until next time, then!"
