Ong Earns Break
As if Farmer Bunnies fans didn't have enough reason to be over the moon already, what with the return of
Ho Ah Kian and arrival of
Mauro Fau, they would get their third international player in as many days. This time, however, he would be raised from within the squad, with 20 year-old prodigy
Ong Li Jing earning his first national youth cap, in a friendly with Albania.
Ong would play the full ninety minutes in a match that Singapore unfortunately lost 0-2, with Albania's beefy Number Ten Sardian Muçaj keeping Ong and skipper Edwin Joe on their toes throughout. Neither could keep Muçaj from scoring in the 30th minute after a badly-placed pass across the backline, with Singapore having to wait until the 84th minute to create their first clear chance - but Ryan Foo stroked it narrowly wide, after being put cleanly through.
The Buns Number Six would not be disappointed, however, and is already looking forward to his next call-up. "Hopefully with Amirul, and some of the chaps over at the Birds!"
