Grilled 7 - 1 NDFC

3901 punters turned up at The Cooking Pot, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came. Saru Him was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Miloš Otić and Jan Tim Verger. Grilled fielded: Vadalà - Mangoye, Webb - Baena, Balde, Chitre, Teck Fu, Keng Chuan - Ferzan, Chuan Yong, Mohammad Harun.

NDFC's lineup was: Phúc Thịnh - Radoš, Buddingh, Văn Thống, Hùng - Sơn Hải, Hữu Dực - Dalan, Hùng, Hoàng.

The teams had chosen different formations for the match. Home team Grilled Birds went for 2-5-3 while Nam Dinh UTD has decided to play a 4-2-3 lineup. NDFC seemed to prefer attacking in the middle, taking advantage of their brilliant (11) level with that tactic. Grilled fans held their breath as Bilal Mohammad Harun scampered down the left side. He successfully avoided all challenges and cracked home the shot for 1 - 0! After 18 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as NDFC found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to poor (3). Grilled increased the lead as Bilal Mohammad Harun struck to make the score 2 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper. Grilled put themselves up 3 - 0 when Egemen Dinçer Ferzan broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Grilled's Enrique Baena increasing the lead to 4 - 0. 4 - 0 was the score after the first half. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Grilled, with 81 percent of the ball.

The NDFC players spent the break getting a rerun of the team's tactical organisation and regained a passable (6) organisation when the game started again. Ibnou Balde would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise. Paulino Trindade entered the game for Grilled as the match clock showed 46 minutes. Egemen Dinçer Ferzan unleashed a swerving effort from the right that the visitors' keeper did well to tip wide. NDFC were great at switching from defence to attack, and after 54 minutes, Võ Hùng swept through the middle on a counterattack, making the score 4 - 1. As the 60 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution. Gilbert Webb reluctantly made way for Mohsen El Khateeb on the pitch. Grilled's Enrique Baena increased the lead to 5 - 1, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 63 minutes. After 77 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and Egemen Dinçer Ferzan gave the Grilled supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 6 - 1. Teo Chuan Yong struck a 30 metre free kick home 82 minutes into the match. 7 - 1 for the home team. After 85 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving Bilal Mohammad Harun off the field. Moey Xin Seng took his place. The Grilled captaincy was handed to Moey Xin Seng. As the match nears its end, the referee has deemed it appropriate to add 2 minutes as stoppage time. The match ends 7 - 1. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 81 percent of the time.

Most important Grilled player was Hwang Teck Fu. Manuel Vadalà turned in a dismal performance, however. NDFC's best player was Võ Hùng. Nguyễn Sơn Hải on the other hand, had a terrible day.
