Jacobianos 0 - 4 Grilled
Clear skies welcomed the 4810 spectators who had made their way to
Jacobianos Arena.
Gilberto 'Jilly' Valern was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Herbert Fransson and
Homer Simpson. The following players had been chosen by Jacobianos:
Fortnez -
Poceiro,
Romero Urziz -
Ezaval,
Danisch,
Solla,
Pimpl,
Seco Serrano -
Texeira,
Mars,
de Mora.
Grilled's lineup was:
Vadal -
Mangoye,
El Khateeb -
Keng Chuan,
Chitre,
Teck Fu,
Khairul,
Trindade -
Ferzan,
Chuan Yong,
Mohammad Harun.
2-5-3 was the choice of the day for both coaches. This was a good period for the visitors, with several opportunities to take the lead, particularly when
Egemen Diner Ferzan slipped through the defence on the right to come up alone against
Ricardo Fortnez, but the home side's keeper showed his lightning reflexes. 23 minutes into the game, Jacobianos seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a inadequate (5) level of organisation.
Martn Texeira was very close to giving Jacobianos the lead with an ingenious free kick routine 24 minutes into the match, but the ball just grazed the bar. Cornered close to the sidelines,
Mohsen El Khateeb managed to wiggle his way past his marker, and then placed it perfectly in the channel for a break-away. 25 minutes into the game Grilled managed a counterattack, but
Paulino Trindade took a soft shot from the left flank that was easy prey for the alert keeper. Grilled's goal to make the score 0 - 1 came via a questionable penalty, but
Teo Chuan Yong struck it home without a second thought.
Paulino Trindade could have put his team up another goal 38 minutes into the game, after a rush down the left, but his closing shot hit the post. Jacobianos's
Fernando de Mora took a knock to the head after 40 minutes, due to a badly executed header. He looked wobbly for a second, but eventually just laughed it off and continued playing. After 41 minutes of game time,
Aw Keng Chuan had an excellent opportunity to add to the visitors' lead, clipping a volley hooked in from the right, but
Ricardo Fortnez was in the right place and tipped the ball over for a corner. After 42 minutes,
Paulino Trindade suffered a slight injury to his right calf muscle. However, it was not enough to stop him from continuing the game. 43 minutes into the game, Jacobianos had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to poor (3). 0 - 1 was the halftime score. Grilled had most of the ball, with 68 percent of possession.
Despite his frustration resulting in the smashing of a few teacups, the coach of Jacobianos was able to get his message across, and raised Jacobianos's organisation to passable (6). 46 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution.
Enrique Baena came on for
Paulino Trindade. Had it not been for one of the home defenders,
Aw Keng Chuan would have put Grilled up another goal 67 minutes into the match with his audacious lob from the right wing. After 70 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
Bilal Mohammad Harun off the field.
Jos Luiz Velho took his place. As the 70 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution.
Teo Chuan Yong reluctantly made way for
Moey Xin Seng on the pitch. As
Teo Chuan Yong exited the field,
Moey Xin Seng volunteered to be the new set pieces taker. 77 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 2 as
Atang Mangoye finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. Grilled came close to extending their lead as
Jos Luiz Velho delivered a low effort on goal from the right after 82 minutes, but the angle was too narrow and the shot went harmlessly into the side netting. With 85 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed
Gandhik Chitre of Grilled to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 0 - 3. Jacobianos's
Martn Texeira was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 86 minutes. Still trailing on the score board, Jacobianos adjusted their tactics after 89 minutes.
Diego Armando Solla had a quick chat at the side line, then switched positions with
Ondino Seco Serrano. After 89 minutes of the match, the manager still hoped to turn things around.
Janis Danisch was ordered to assume a different position on the pitch. He took the place of
Vito Ezaval, who in turn replaced his team mate. Sensing defeat in the air, the Jacobianos manager directed
Diego Armando Solla and
Jess Mars to change positions with each other. This was 89 minutes into the match. With things not going too well on the field, the Jacobianos coach made the decision to swap the positions of
Janis Danisch and
Martn Texeira with 89 minutes played. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 2 minutes of added time they, nonetheless, welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. With 89 minutes played, Grilled put themselves up 0 - 4 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was
Egemen Diner Ferzan. 89 minutes into the game, Jacobianos seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to inadequate (5). The match ends 0 - 4. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 69 percent of possession.
Martn Texeira performed admirably for Jacobianos. On the other hand,
Jess Mars's play was disheartening. Grilled's top performer was clearly
Mohd Marzuki Khairul.
Manuel Vadal turned in a dismal performance, however.
