Gandhik Chitre increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 0 - 3. 0 - 3 was the score after the first half. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 59 percent.

46 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution. Lim An Keng came on for Chia Kwang Tse. After 46 minutes, Grilled felt secure enough to make a tactical change. Mohd Marzuki Khairul and Hwang Teck Fu assumed each others positions on the field. Kununurra's talent at pressing frustrated the spectators as the game became a dire midfield struggle.
