Benfleet 4 - 3 Grilled

Clear skies welcomed the 12537 spectators who had made their way to Woodside Park. Juan Ponce Enríquez was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Gabin Billaut and Eliyahu Sneh. Benfleet's starters: Hedolingbe - Gaspar, Stengaard, Thomsen - Da'im, van der Pol, Gavril, Szabó, Dabholkar - Dernič, Rafi.

Grilled fielded: Vadalà - Mangoye, Hutter - Teck Fu, Kwang Tse, Chitre, Khairul, Trindade - Ze Han, Xin Seng, Parvathaneni.

The teams had chosen different formations for the match. Home team Benfleet Branch went for 3-5-2 while Grilled Birds has decided to play a 2-5-3 lineup. Grilled clearly preferred using their titanic (15) ability to attack in the middle. Francis Dernič gave Benfleet the lead as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then slotted the ball into the bottom corner, giving the keeper no chance. 1 - 0 A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Benfleet's Amrie Da'im increasing the lead to 2 - 0. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. Igor Gavril squirmed through their central defence after 25 minutes, increasing the lead to 3 - 0. The guests got an opportunity to get a goal back after 26 minutes and Moey Xin Seng took it from the penalty spot, scoring easily for 3 - 1. A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of Benfleet to 4 - 1 as Francis Dernič finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle. It was 4 - 1 at the break. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 57 percent.

46 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Chia Kwang Tse gave Chad Thach a quick hug as he left the field. With things not going too well on the field, the Grilled coach made the decision to swap the positions of Hwang Teck Fu and Gandhik Chitre with 46 minutes played. Grilled certainly deserved a goal after some stunning play down the left, but Chan Ze Han just wasn't able to finish. As the 60 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution. Moey Xin Seng reluctantly made way for Teo Chuan Yong on the pitch. As Moey Xin Seng left the field, the coach signaled to Teo Chuan Yong to be the new set pieces taker. Chan Ze Han was the new captain of Grilled - handed the armband by the departing player. After 60 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving Kalki Parvathaneni off the field. Bilal Mohammad Harun took his place. With 76 minutes played, Bilal Mohammad Harun had a fantastic opportunity to reply but his shot from the middle flew harmlessly wide of the goal. The home team's fans were upset when, after 82 minutes, the visiting Teo Chuan Yong broke through the central defence and kicked the ball past the keeper. 4 - 2 was the score. The visitors replied 84 minutes into the game, reducing the home side's lead to 4 - 3, as Chan Ze Han dashed up the middle, easily lobbing the ball over the home team's keeper. The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 1 minute beyond the regular 90 minutes. The match ends 4 - 3. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 58 percent of possession.

The most dominating Benfleet player was without a doubt Francis Dernič. Muhyiddin Rafi turned in a dismal performance, however. Chan Ze Han performed admirably for Grilled. Manuel Vadalà was a disappointment, however.
