Orange 0 - 7 Grilled
11961 spectators had found their way to
Orange Lions F.C. Arena, despite the heavy rain.
Laurent Van Doorslaer was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Mikuláš Preveliký and
Topias Sinisalo. The wet pitch made it difficult for technical or quick players to stand out. For once, the players relying on physical strength gained the upper hand. Orange fielded:
Woon Kum -
Hock Ming,
Richardson,
Kong Da -
Daniel,
Sirolla,
Roy,
Ordev,
Tan -
Oshiro,
Long Puay.
The following players took the field for Grilled:
Vadalà -
Mohammad Harun,
Keng Chuan,
Panigrahi -
Teck Fu,
An Keng,
Chitre,
Kwang Tse,
Khairul -
Ze Han,
Parvathaneni.
As the teams prepared to start the match, they both lined up in a 3-5-2 formation. The visitors grabbed the lead after
Bhavya Panigrahi's free kick succeeded, resulting in a score of 0 - 1. The referee showed Grilled's
Kalki Parvathaneni the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. After 13 minutes, Grilled's
Mohd Marzuki Khairul burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 2. Had it not been for one of the home defenders,
Mohd Marzuki Khairul would have put Grilled up another goal 15 minutes into the match with his audacious lob from the right wing.
Stephon Tan was in no condition to play on. He left the field limping after 24 minutes, with his left thigh bandaged.
Dave Brown had already been warming up, and came on for
Stephon Tan. After 26 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for
Chan Ze Han who increased Grilled's lead to 0 - 3. The home crowd cheered when, after 28 minutes,
Chan Ze Han's charge up the middle resulted in the keeper making one of his best saves of the day. Grilled's
Chia Kwang Tse took a knock to the head after 34 minutes, due to a badly executed header. He looked wobbly for a second, but eventually just laughed it off and continued playing. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 3. Grilled had most of the ball, with 66 percent of possession.
Bilal Mohammad Harun received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 59 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 4. The Grilled fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. Content with how the game was proceeding, the Grilled coach let
Prokop Mottl replace
Chan Ze Han after 60 minutes. The Grilled captaincy was handed to
Bilal Mohammad Harun. 60 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution.
Moey Xin Seng came on for
Kalki Parvathaneni. With 70 minutes played,
Ice Ordev of Orange fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. 75 minutes into the game, Grilled were awarded a penalty and
Bhavya Panigrahi was able to increase the visitors' lead to 0 - 5 rolling the ball in by the right post. A penalty was awarded after 77 minutes, and
Bhavya Panigrahi made the most of his chance to put Grilled up by another goal. 0 - 6 for the visitors. That was his third goal of the match - a hat trick for
Bhavya Panigrahi. After 80 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave
Moey Xin Seng a chance to increase the lead for Grilled, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 7. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 3 minutes of added time they, nonetheless, welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. The match ends 0 - 7. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 65 percent of the time.
William Oshiro performed admirably for Orange.
Sachin Roy on the other hand, had a terrible day. Grilled's best player was
Aw Keng Chuan.
Manuel Vadalà was a disappointment, however.
