Grilled Birds fielded a 2-5-3 lineup. For Green Thunder, the formation of choice was 5-4-1. After 8 minutes Thunder tried to exploit their counterattacking skills, unfortunately,
Andrew Guy's shot sailed wide after his break down the right. 0 - 0 was the score after the first half. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 71 percent.
Chia Kwang Tse would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise.
Chad Thach entered the game for Grilled as the match clock showed 46 minutes. As the clock reached 46 minutes, Grilled decided to regroup.
Hwang Teck Fu gave
Mohd Marzuki Khairul a little pat on the back as they changed positions on the pitch. After 46 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
Prokop Mottl off the field.
José Luiz Velho took his place. The referee showed Grilled's
Atang Mangoye the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. 77 minutes in, Thunder's
Mark Lutchmiah received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Grilled's
Moey Xin Seng was shown a yellow card after 79 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
80 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Moey Xin Seng gave
Teo Chuan Yong a quick hug as he left the field. As
Moey Xin Seng left the field, the coach signaled to
Teo Chuan Yong to be the new set pieces taker. As the captain was no longer on the pitch,
Teo Chuan Yong took over the role of being the Grilled captain. Grilled had a chance to take the lead after
Enrique Baena's dazzling drive up the left, but the opportunity fizzled out as his shot went just over the bar after 80 minutes. Grilled were very close to putting themselves one up after 84 minutes as
Gandhik Chitre got through on the left. However, his concentration failed him, and he shot wide. With the scores being level after 90 minutes, the match went into extra time. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Grilled, with 72 percent of the ball.
The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to
José Luiz Velho, but the Grilled player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 1 - 0! Grilled's
Yee Jian Hui swung in a good chance from the left, but the visitors' defence were able to clear the ball. With 103 minutes played,
Enrique Baena of Grilled fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. The match ends 1 - 0.
Teo Chuan Yong performed admirably for Grilled. However,
Atang Mangoye made a disastrous appearance. Thunder's top performer was clearly
Andrew Guy.
James Bonner was a disappointment, however.
