Yomiuri 3 - 2 Grilled

It had rained all day, but 32827 hardy fans still made it out to Tokyo Dome. Maiko Ramsl was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Armīns Vīksne and Enrique Rossell. The pitch was a disaster, due to all the rain. This spelled problems for the more sophisticated players, who usually could rely on speed or technique. For those relying on grit and strength, it actually meant an edge. Yomiuri fielded: Tober - Ho Yong, Epaminondas - Han, Struhár, Bolcato, McIntyre, Shackey - Mazza, Dumais, Starr.

Grilled's lineup was: Germanakos - Mohammad Harun, Keng Chuan, Thach - Trindade, An Keng, Teck Fu, Khairul, Chitre - Ze Han, Xin Seng.

It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 2-5-3 formation while the visitors instead opted for 3-5-2. Ivanilson Epaminondas of Yomiuri was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. Following a nasty collision in the 18, Grilled's Moey Xin Seng complained of a damaged shoulder. He was advised against continuing the game. Kalki Parvathaneni tried to hide a smile as he entered the field. He had not expected to get a chance this day. The Grilled captaincy was handed to Chan Ze Han. The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to Julien Dumais, but the Yomiuri player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 1 - 0! Grilled made it 1 - 1 as Kalki Parvathaneni got a touch to the floated corner kick and flicked the ball to Hwang Teck Fu who whipped a low drive in off the far post. Leen Tober looked great 36 minutes into the match after stopping a shot from the middle of the penalty area from the visitors' Paulino Trindade. They were singing the praises of Bruno Mazza 42 minutes into the match after his speculative chip from the middle of the penalty box found its way over the visitors' keeper to make the score 2 - 1 to Yomiuri. 2 - 1 was the halftime score. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 57 percent.

46 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution. Chia Kwang Tse came on for Lim An Keng. With things not going too well on the field, the Grilled coach made the decision to swap the positions of Gandhik Chitre and Hwang Teck Fu with 46 minutes played. As the 50 minute mark approached, the Yomiuri coach decided it was time for a substitution. Giampietro Bolcato reluctantly made way for Víctor Arias on the pitch. As the captain was no longer on the pitch, Neil Shackey took over the role of being the Yomiuri captain. The visiting team's Chan Ze Han was able to score the 2 - 2 equaliser with a header 56 minutes into the match, after some good work on the right. After 70 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving Chad Thach off the field. Teo Chuan Yong took his place. 78 minutes into the match and the home team took a 3 - 2 lead after breaking through on the left. The scorer for Yomiuri was Víctor Arias. The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 3 minutes beyond the regular 90 minutes. The match ends 3 - 2. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 54 percent of the time.

The most dominating Yomiuri player was without a doubt Holden McIntyre. Julien Dumais was a disappointment, however. Chan Ze Han performed admirably for Grilled. On the other hand, Gandhik Chitre's play was disheartening.
