SpaceFaroe 5 - 2 Grilled
Due to an all-day shower, 1990 paying spectators got to see a match on a pitch-turned-bog at
Space Faroe Arena.
Dinu Puie was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Ralph de Ruijsscher and
Matthys Abbink. The pitch was a disaster, due to all the rain. This spelled problems for the more sophisticated players, who usually could rely on speed or technique. For those relying on grit and strength, it actually meant an edge. The following players took the field for SpaceFaroe:
Davidsen -
Gressbach,
Dahl,
Lindenskov -
Rúnason,
Dubovský,
Limberg,
Isfeld -
Ziemiański,
Müssig,
Dall orso.
The following players had been chosen by Grilled:
Law -
Thevar,
El Khateeb,
Jian Hui -
田宮 (Tamiya),
An Keng,
Teck Fu,
Khairul,
Baena -
Jaška,
Mangoye.
It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 3-4-3 formation while the visitors instead opted for 3-5-2.
Atang Mangoye had a good try after 10 minutes, coming in on a fine move from the left, but the ball went wide. The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to
John Rúnason, but the SpaceFaroe player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 1 - 0!
Tomás Dall orso increased the lead for SpaceFaroe to 2 - 0, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it! It was 2 - 0 at the break. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 52 percent of possession.
As the 46 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution.
Lim An Keng reluctantly made way for
Chia Kwang Tse on the pitch. After 55 minutes, the SpaceFaroe players received new instructions from their manager on how to keep in control of the game. After a short break after 55 minutes, SpaceFaroe seemed to change their tactical approach a bit. The referee showed SpaceFaroe's
Filip Dubovský the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. With 59 minutes showing on the scoreboard clock, Grilled showed some good skill and were able to reduce the score to 2 - 1 when
Yee Jian Hui got past the home side's central defenders right in front of the goal.
Yee Jian Hui of Grilled was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. A corner kick created great disorder in the penalty area with a goal nearly scored by
Mohsen El Khateeb. At last, Grilled's
Enrique Baena was able to backheel the ball in. 2 - 2.
Radovan Jaška would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise.
José Luiz Velho entered the game for Grilled as the match clock showed 71 minutes. As
Radovan Jaška left the field, the coach signaled to
José Luiz Velho to be the new set pieces taker. After 71 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
Atang Mangoye off the field.
Prokop Mottl took his place.
José Luiz Velho became the new Grilled captain. Grilled's
Yee Jian Hui could have put the guests one up after 73 minutes after chasing a through ball from the right, but
Henry Davidsen was as fast as a snake, grabbing the ball from under his nose. With 74 minutes gone, a long pass from the defence of SpaceFaroe resulted in a counterattack that set
Sakir Lindenskov free through the middle, but the keeper made a spectacular diving save. SpaceFaroe had a chance to take the lead after
Filip Dubovský's dazzling drive up the left, but the opportunity fizzled out as his shot went just over the bar after 77 minutes. It was announced by the referee that he estimated stoppage time to be around 2 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! As neither team had managed to win, extra time was called. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Grilled, with 54 percent of the ball.
SpaceFaroe took the lead, 3 - 2, after a penalty 99 minutes into the match.
Frímundur Dahl scored from the penalty spot. The visitors almost came back with an equaliser 103 minutes into the match after a good combination through the middle, but when
Enrique Baena tried to finish the attack, he couldn't get enough power on the shot to seriously challenge the keeper. SpaceFaroe managed to extend their lead to 4 - 2 when
Tobias Müssig cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. SpaceFaroe put themselves up 5 - 2 when
Sigurd Limberg broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake. The match ends 5 - 2. SpaceFaroe's top performer was clearly
Filip Dubovský.
Danjal Pauli Isfeld turned in a dismal performance, however.
José Luiz Velho performed admirably for Grilled. On the other hand,
Mohsen El Khateeb's play was disheartening.
