Grilled Birds entered the field in a 3-5-2 formation. The visitors, Redneck Experience, chose to start the game with a 5-4-1 lineup. Grilled took the lead after 5 minutes as a result of
Hwang Teck Fu's peach of a shot from the right hand side of the box - placed beautifully in the top corner. 1 - 0. With 6 minutes played,
Fred Adeleke came in from the right and could have evened the score, but the defenders successfully repelled the attack by Experience. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents,
Malenge Anyanwu got himself booked. The manager of Experience was not happy. 1 - 1 came about as
Atang Mangoye tried to clear the ball, but made it an own goal instead, to the great displeasure of his keeper.
Mohsen El Khateeb was in no condition to play on. He left the field limping after 37 minutes, with his left thigh bandaged. The player that took his place was
José Luiz Velho. It was 1 - 1 at the break. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 57 percent.
After 46 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
Lim An Keng off the field.
Chia Kwang Tse took his place. 70 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Atang Mangoye gave
Prokop Mottl a quick hug as he left the field.
José Luiz Velho was the new captain of Grilled - handed the armband by the departing player. The referee announced 2 minutes of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. Still tied after 92 minutes, the match continued into extra time. Grilled had most of the ball, with 59 percent of possession.
93 minutes into the game, Experience's
Fred Adeleke missed an opportunity to score the leading goal from a penalty when he delivered the shot straight into the keeper's hands. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
Christopher Soludo from Experience a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 97 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
Olaniyi Maga went down after twisting his left ankle in minute 100, but was able to continue the match none the less. The result was still a draw, so the match had to be settled with penalties.
Grilled's
Hwang Teck Fu looked like he knew exactly where he wanted to put the ball, but unfortunately his shot went wide of the left hand post. Still 1 - 1. Experience's
Drew Glushko didn't hesitate but
Cameron Law managed the save, resulting in an unchanged 1 - 1 score. Grilled's
Mohd Marzuki Khairul didn't look like he was confident as he stepped up, and produced a badly struck penalty - right into the arms of
Drew Glushko. The score remained 1 - 1. Experience's
Mike Onome made no mistake.
Cameron Law didn't have a chance. 1 - 2. Grilled's
Chia Kwang Tse was relaxed as he smoothly put the ball in the net. 2 - 2! Experience's
Ebehi Dare penalty shot was very well placed but
Cameron Law went the right way, blocking it spectacularly. The score was still 2 - 2. Grilled's
Enrique Baena looked nervous even as he was putting the ball on the spot. He didn't take much of a run up, and his weak shot was easily saved by the keeper. Oooh - how unlucky! Experience's
Alexis Ruiz attempt hit the underside of the bar, but rebounded down into the grateful arms of
Cameron Law. The score stays 2 - 2. Clearly nervous from the start, Grilled's
Cameron Law took a long run up, but could only blast the ball over the bar. The score remains 2 - 2. Experience's
Christopher Soludo coolly put the ball past
Cameron Law. 2 - 3. The match ends 2 - 3. Grilled's top performer was clearly
Prokop Mottl. On the other hand,
José Luiz Velho's play was disheartening. Most important Experience player was
Drew Glushko.
Fred Adeleke was a disappointment, however.
