Eagles Claim Wong
Albanian IV.20 newcomers Red Eagles F.C. would sign the Farmer Bunnies' Wong Han Liang on a training contract today, with the just-turned-seventeen lad being assigned the Number 92 shirt. Hetem Binjaku and his coaching staff have been pulling out the recruitment stops in the past week, with seven such deals already completed before Wong's, beginning with Cheng Jiahong from Chinese giants tianying.
Buns scout Ooi Long Ming described Wong as a solid if prototypical central midfielder. "He had been one of the hardest-working with the Rancher Rabbits, and made up for any lack in natural creativity with an emphasis on the basics." Ooi recounted. "And really, that was enough to make him one of our better U-20s in recent seasons."
"He just needs more good mentorship, and ample playing time now. Expectations should not be too high with the Eagles, which should suit his development just fine."
Before this, Grilled International had again materially benefitted from the continued success of another of their academy products, with 20 year-old striker Lee Yun Chang making the third transfer of his career, for S$2.6 million from Luxembourg fourth divisioners Pandurii Luxemburg, to Pinto Peri Peri Ases of the Polish sixth division. Lee would not consider this as a step back, and instead viewed it as an opportunity to establish himself as the main man.
