Go West, Young Son
18 year-old Chicken Wings academy graduate Jordan Son left on a free transfer today, for Spanish VII.1 champions Macadamia. The bulky striker had spent several busy weeks putting himself forward, and word was that while Macadamia head coach Antonio Frutos was not overly taken by his skills, he liked the initiative and leadership that Son possessed in spades.
This came as the Wings departed the A World Youth Championship youth league, after completing three seasons in it; they had regressed from fifth, to seventh, and finally to eleventh out of sixteen teams with just 34 points in the latest season, way behind winners Netroma Talent Fabrik on 81 points - which to assistant coach Nuh Alawee Ramli, indicated that a change in environment might do the squad some good.
"It's not like we're running away." he insisted. "Six other clubs have left in any case, and it's always wise to broaden our horizons. We have just accepted an open invitation from the Poland-based Kopalnia Diamentów, and hope to get going as soon as possible."
Grilled International would end their league campaign in second place despite a 2-3 home defeat to champions The International Raven Team, who will still have to play a qualifier against Rohan to promote.
Sazwan bin Hj Muhd Salleh's second yellow for crocking Maltese playmaker Simon Schembri just before half-time, meant that International had to do with just ten men for the second half. Silvio Caldas extended the Ravens' lead to 3-1, before
Tibor Atzenhain slipped through.
As expected, Fausto Perono captured the league Golden Boot with twelve goals despite his transfer out, though he would have been suspended in any case; Male Diven's Anton Pihanurmi and The Sun men's Mahmoud El Nabawy were closest to him, on eight each. Perono's response would be to tweet for the club to mail him the trophy, which would be answered in good cheer.
