Fadlin In Demand
Fadlin bin Hj Mohd Salleh's future would lie away from Grilled International indeed, as he signed with Northern Ireland's Churchridge Rovers II, for S$135,000. Danish head coach Ricky Mark was an admirer of Fadlin's versatility, and made him the III.6 club's sixth U-20 acquisition of the month, right after InishMacSaint's Oliver Wakelam.
The 17 year-old Fadlin - who sees himself as a box-to-box midfielder, but who has done well on the wings and even in defence too - was always going to be popular with that sort of skillset, and had six other clubs tabling official bids: New Black Stars Legend (Italian Division Six), The True Money Team (Spanish Division Seven), Shaï Hulud Club and FC Seja (both Belgian Division Six), Da Lian wx1 (Chinese Division Five) and Belize Me FC (Trekanten United FC) (Belize Division Two).
The Stars and True Money were especially persistent, but Rovers was clearly Fadlin's preference, the size of their offer aside.
Didi Reidenbach admitted that he would have invited Fadlin to stick with the International squad, had this been a few seasons ago, but this was a bad time for a developing youngster like him. "We had to do right by Fadlin." Reidenbach sighed. "He won't learn much more at the Bees, so this was for the best."
