Bunnies 2 - 5 Grilled

Clouds darkened the skies at Carrot Field as 2102 spectators turned up for the match. Xoel Laxos was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Qabil Gharaybeh and Aleksander Stupak. Lineup: Nasir al Din - Ting Yew, Patel, Agyei, Tallapaka, Yun Jie - Dong Hao, Raulj, Vener, Rapaka - Nguyen.

They fielded: Serpin - Webb, Panigrahi - Muthyala, Xin Lee, Dong Chu, Parvathaneni, Mohammad Harun - Mottl, Egan, Velho.

Farmer Bunnies entered the field in a 5-4-1 formation. The visitors, Grilled Birds, chose to start the game with a 2-5-3 lineup. Bunnies were relying on their extra-terrestrial ability to counter-attack. Grilled clearly preferred using their divine (+3) ability to attack in the middle. A mistake by the home side's central defence after 21 minutes allowed Kalki Parvathaneni to score for Grilled. The scoreboard now read 0 - 1. Sunil Patel of Bunnies was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. Grilled's Neeraj Muthyala took a knock to the head after 32 minutes, due to a badly executed header. He took a few uneasy steps, but got dizzy and then taken off the field. This gave Yee Jian Hui a chance to take to the field instead. With 33 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed Chu Xin Lee of Grilled to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 0 - 2. 34 minutes into the match, José Luiz Velho came through the middle and almost added to his team's lead, but the shot went wide. The counterattack by Bunnies resulted in a free kick that Vishnu Tallapaka bent under the crossbar - 1 - 2! 1 - 2 was the score after the first half. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 69 percent of possession.

A drive down the left side allowed Bernie Egan to get in close and score another goal for Grilled after 49 minutes, taking the score to 1 - 3. The home crowd cheered when, after 59 minutes, Kalki Parvathaneni's charge up the middle resulted in the keeper making one of his best saves of the day. After 64 minutes, Grilled's Heng Dong Chu burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 1 - 4. Despite hurting his right foot at the 68 minute mark, Bernie Egan decided to keep playing. Some fine movement on the left led to a Grilled goal after 70 minutes, making it 1 - 5. Prokop Mottl was noted down as the scorer. The counterattacks of Bunnies were deadly and 72 minutes into the game, Tan Dong Hao received a nice pass from the right flank, making it 2 - 5. 80 minutes into the game, Bunnies wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Daniel Nguyen gave Ermis Ftenopoulos a quick hug as he left the field. As the 88 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution. Bernie Egan reluctantly made way for Chirag Thevar on the pitch. 88 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution. 雄輝 (Yuki) 入江 (Irie) came on for Bhavya Panigrahi. Miran Raulj would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise. Tham Leng Teck entered the game for Bunnies as the match clock showed 89 minutes. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 3 minutes of added time they, nonetheless, welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. The match ends 2 - 5. Grilled had most of the ball, with 65 percent of possession.

Kwek Yun Jie performed admirably for Bunnies. Ermis Ftenopoulos turned in a dismal performance, however. Most important Grilled player was Kalki Parvathaneni. However, 雄輝 (Yuki) 入江 (Irie) made a disastrous appearance.
