Mixed Muddling
All three Grilled clubs staggered through a tough second day of the Supporter Week Trophy, with the Birds faring best with two wins out of three.
Kalki Parvathaneni found the net in all of those games, beginning with what would be the winner in a 4-3 against Danish Division Four side FC duser. Preben Grønning quickened some heartbeats as he brought FC duser within range at the start of a long injury time period, though
Yuta Nakakita would be the most threatening in it.
A loss by the same scoreline to Austrian II.1 club 666 FC NoExit was next, despite Grilled managing to come from behind thrice. The Birds appeared good for finally locking in the comeback, but NoExit instead banged in a fourth goal through Johann Weinberger, amidst some confusion about
Chu Xin Lee's substitution; they then hung on for full points. It was Grilled's turn to take the initiative against Toscana-based fifth divisioners Nuova F.c. La Pace, and they were up 6-1 at one point, before a strong rally from Nuova's Albanian striker Redi Hysenllari drew the Italians back up to 7-4.
Fatigue struck the Farmer Bunnies as they lost their first two matches without scoring, against freshly-promoted Al Dawry Al-Momtaz side Slavia Bahrain and Croatian Division Four club Ad Hoc Team - both games in which one would have expected them to secure a result in, in better times. Indeed, they arguably edged the first half against Slavia Bahrain, but goalkeeper Francesc Cucarella was just too good, and it was all uphill after Angelo Fiorenza scooted smoothly past
Vishnu Tallapaka in the 62nd minute.
Ad Hoc Team likewise closed shop after Damiano Fastidio's lone strike from an incisive wing play in the 21st, and late potential breakthroughs were let down by poor finishing from Tham and Kwek. Redemption for the Buns would come in the form of a 5-0 whitewash of Italian Division Six side A.S. Enna, for which they first had to survive a terrific Michelangelo Abbado attempt, after he left the Buns' entire backline stumped.
Vivian Grubenmann would just about reach his swerving take, fortunately.
Like the Bunnies, Grilled International lost two and won one. They started out against Trinidad & Tobago III.3 champions FC Hakuna Matata, whose newly-transferred German star Anno Staller led them to a 4-3 victory. Olger van der Klaauw was also instrumental for German Division Six side fc muc 05, but International would outdo them, 4-2. Finally, Tanzanian H.I. representatives Black Eagle F.C would manage a 1-0 win with only two shots made, courtesy of Dušan Živadinović.
