A Necessary Move
Grilled released
Christian Mier to Real Oriente United for S$600000 today, after close consultation with the Bolivian national footballing body, who were concerned that the Birds had not been placing enough emphasis on his training. This was something that
Djan Bacelar personally disagreed with, but he ultimately agreed to let Mier go for a reasonable consideration.
"In my opinion, we're working him into the pro scene at an appropriate pace." Bacelar explained. "Getting the basics down first, general fitness, that sort of thing. His national coaches have a very different idea on what should be done, however, and in the end we thought it best not to stand in the way of his chances."
Mier, who enjoyed an explosive debut, scoring a minute after coming on against Quipersss, will now come under a program tailored for him at Oriente, who had originally gone for him when he was still at A. Pelota de trapo.
"It's been a blast here, but sadly the circumstances were not right for me to stay." Mier said. "I wouldn't count out a return someday!"
