Islanders 0 - 7 Grilled

rk skies made the crowd of 12000 at Sentosa Road a little nervous, but the rain held off. Steen Rud Lorentzen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Hugo Meydac and Theofanis Ntaralas. Islanders tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination. They fielded: Jin-Han - Ying-Hua, Yi-min, Siew-Mun, Chiang-Foo - Feng-Chu, Mahmood, Trong-An, Vats - Vu-Anh, Chi-Cheung.

Grilled decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. The following players took the field: Seng - Awyong, van der Ban, Bakhtiar - 福泉 (Fuquan) , bin Mohd Kassim, 勇航 (Yonghang) , Aik Jia, Ying Lee - Wan Kang, bin Sabtu.

Grilled used their ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. The home crowd was not impressed by the fancy moves of Grilled's L. Aik Jia after 2 minutes. He converted a pass from the left for a goal, resulting in the visitors taking the 0 - 1 lead. After 4 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave 田. 勇航 (Yonghang) a chance to increase the lead for Grilled, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 2. L. Wan Kang increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 0 - 3. At this point, it was obvious that the players of Grilled lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. With 12 minutes played, L. Aik Jia nearly put the visitors another one up as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot passed just over the bar. With the scoreboard showing that 25 minutes had been played, Grilled nearly put themselves up another goal after M. bin Mohd Kassim came through on the left. Fortunately for the home crowd, the keeper made the save. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 3. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 79 percent.

L. Wan Kang wanted to play on, but the Grilled coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 46 minutes into the game by P. Bellamoli. 田. 勇航 (Yonghang) received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 49 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 4. The Grilled fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. The home keeper was stunned 50 minutes into the match when he misjudged the free kick by C. bin Sabtu and dived in the wrong direction. The visitors increased the lead to 0 - 5. It was obvious that team Grilled had instructions to attack in the middle instead of on the wings. The visitors' H. Bakhtiar took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 52 minutes into the match. 0 - 6 for Grilled. 54 minutes into the game, Grilled were awarded a penalty and C. bin Sabtu was able to increase the visitors' lead to 0 - 7 rolling the ball in by the right post. 65 minutes into the match, C. Awyong came through the middle and almost added to his team's lead, but the shot went wide. The coach of Grilled was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 85 minutes, Q. Madaini came on for C. Awyong. R. van der Ban left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 85 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead. N. Vandeneynde was the replacement. Grilled had most of the ball, with 87 percent of possession.

Islanders's top performer was clearly Z. Vu-Anh. L. Yi-min on the other hand, had a terrible day. Most important Grilled player was M. bin Mohd Kassim. On the other hand, H. Bakhtiar's play was disheartening. The match ends 0 - 7.
