Fang Makes Mark

A new youth legend was born today as Fang Tong Rong broke Mohd Safri bin Mohd Kassim's longstanding Chicken Wings goalscoring record of 21 goals, which the former national U-20 star achieved in 25 matches. Fang's brace against Dead Poets Society in the Wings' 3-2 win this morning brought his total to 23 in 20, a clip that senior scout Tham Beng Li described as out of this world.

Captain for the past few games, Fang dragged the team back level in the 70th minute with his solo dash down the right, and then volleyed with icy-cool verve four minutes later to seal the win. A large section of Grilled fans are already clamouring for him to go straight into the regular squad, but Tham dashed their hopes by regarding it as unlikely.

"He's as close as a sure thing that we have in this day and age, but unfortunately the environment here is not all that suitable for a talent such as him." Tham explained. "The senior side are overdue for a serious go at the S-League, and good as he is, Fang will be well off the standard required at that level for a good few years yet."

"It will be difficult to let such potential leave, but as things stand it would be the right thing for all of us. It makes no sense for Fang to dabble about in the Cup and friendlies, he's capable of making an instant impact for the right team."
