Grilled 2 - 1 Hilal
ouds darkened the skies at The Cooking Pot as 7328 spectators turned up for the match.
Hugo Büttikofer was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Jani Määttä and
Giuseppe Miolini. Grilled tactics involved an interesting 2-5-3 combination. They fielded: Seng - Ross, Bakhtiar - Shaahee, bin Mohd Kassim, 力勇 (Liyong), Ying Lee, 福泉 (Fuquan) - Bellamoli, Chan, Wan Kang.
Hilal started off with a 3-4-3 lineup. Lineup: Daavitsainen - El Beik, Hanino, Braiji - Hmouz, Burink, Barjes, Tayyem - Mahmoud, Sumelahti, Figueira.
Grilled were mostly trying to use their skill at attacking on the flanks. 28 minutes of the match played, and a comedy of errors by the home side gave the visitors a chance at the lead, but
Isa Hmouz, after finding himself dashing down on goal from the left with only the keeper to beat, sliced his shot horribly wide. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
Isa Abbas Tayyem from Hilal a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 29 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! Slack defending gave Grilled a chance to take the lead with 31 minutes played, but
Winston Chan's cross from the left flank was fumbled in front of the goal and easily dealt with by the opposition.
Isa Abbas Tayyem knew he was in trouble after pulling back an opponent. Despite his pleading with the referee, the Hilal player was shown a second yellow card and dismissed from the game. Hilal's
Abdalrahman Hanino gave the visitors a 0 - 1 lead after 33 minutes with a superb strike from the right.
Abdalrahman Hanino's lack of experience almost gave Grilled a goal after 34 minutes, but the shot went right into the keeper's arms. Players in Grilled heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their central attacks to the wings instead.
Mohd Safri bin Mohd Kassim was just a finger's breadth away from an equaliser for Grilled with a strike from the left, but
Pasi Daavitsainen managed to ward the closing shot off to a corner. 38 minutes into the game,
Albert-Jeen Burink had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came
Walter Robertsson. Halftime score was 0 - 1. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 53 percent of possession.
The bench was restless, and with 46 minutes passed Grilled's coach gave
田 (Tian) 勇航 (Yonghang) the opportunity the player had been hoping for.
梁 (Liang) 力勇 (Liyong) reluctantly left the field. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Grilled's
Shiya Shaahee was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 65 minutes.
Abdul bin Jantan was given a chance to change things around. Grilled's
Chow Ying Lee almost tied things up with 69 minutes played after breaking through on the right, but his shot deflected off the post. After 75 minutes of play,
凌 (Ling) 福泉 (Fuquan) equalised for Grilled after an elegant attack from the right. Hilal's
Abdalrahman Hanino was shown a yellow card after 85 minutes for slicing down an opponent. After 88 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
Hilal Bakhtiar">
Hilal Bakhtiar off the field.
Alex Fonseca took his place.
Alex Fonseca was handed the Grilled captain's armband. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Grilled, with 66 percent of the ball.
After the regular 90 minutes, the agony of extra time followed. Grilled took the lead after 104 minutes as a result of
田 (Tian) 勇航 (Yonghang) 's peach of a shot from the right hand side of the box - placed beautifully in the top corner. 2 - 1. What a dramatic win for Grilled! Grilled's best player was
Abdul bin Jantan. However,
Dan Seng made a disastrous appearance. Hilal's top performer was clearly
Walter Robertsson.
Mahmood Naser Braiji on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 2 - 1.
