The Lions 2 - 4 Grilled
rk skies made the crowd of 58738 at Lions' Lair a little nervous, but the rain held off.
Dominik Donahue was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Saturninas Šemiakinas and
Maurice Melis. The Lions decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. The following players took the field: Fu Liang - bin Shariff, Dong Shun, Carn - Abu Salim, 新龙 (Xinlong), 子佑 (Ziyou), Sinha, bin Saidi - Puay Wen, Xin Meng.
Grilled started off with a 2-5-3 lineup. Lineup: Stacey - 俊桂 (Jungui), Tzonkov - Iten, bin Jantan, 尊文 (Zunwen) , 长春 (Changchun), Djekshenkulov - bin Mohd Kassim, 恒才 (Hengcai), Ying Lee.
Grilled used their ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. After a fine move down the middle
Khaironnisam Abu Salim nearly gave the home side a goal after 18 minutes. The finishing shot went just wide, though. After 28 minutes, Grilled's
林 (Lin) 俊桂 (Jungui) fell awkwardly, but was determined to stay in the match. That's the spirit! Grilled took the lead after 31 minutes with 0 - 1.
唐 (Tang) 恒才 (Hengcai) placed the ball out of reach for the home side's keeper after a fine move, coming in from the left.
罗 (Luo) 子佑 (Ziyou) made a superb strike after 34 minutes with a shot straight in front of the goal after a long ball through the middle, but one of the visitors' defenders got a foot in at the last second and warded it off for a corner. After 37 minutes of play,
Chia Xin Meng evened things up for The Lions with an impressive goal coming up the middle. 1 - 1. Many in the crowd felt the referee was being too lenient when he only showed The Lions's
Faziallah bin Saidi a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 38 minutes into the game.
Seytek Djekshenkulov seemed to be floating in the air as he elegantly headed in the 1 - 2 goal for Grilled after a corner kick that was nicely executed by
Paolo Iten. The visitors nearly scored again after 40 minutes, but a superb save by
Tan Fu Liang kept
Paolo Iten's free kick out of the net. With 41 minutes played, a phenomenal play on the left side freed
林 (Lin) 俊桂 (Jungui), of Grilled, to dash through and score another goal for the visitors. The score was then 1 - 3. Grilled's players now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. 1 - 3 was the halftime score. This half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 55 percent of the time.
Grilled's
Abdul bin Jantan had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 59 minutes having been played.
Alex Fonseca was the replacement. After 60 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for
唐 (Tang) 恒才 (Hengcai) who increased Grilled's lead to 1 - 4. The Lions supporters cheered as good work down the right got the ball to
Lee Puay Wen who reduced the visitors' lead after 69 minutes to 2 - 4. Grilled's
Slavcho Tzonkov wanted to play on, but 70 minutes into the game the decision was made to substitute him for
Qassem Madaini.
卢 (lu) 尊文 (Zunwen) was, after 78 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the centre, but home side's keeper
Tan Fu Liang made the save. The Grilled players could smell victory in the air.
Paolo Iten wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for
Yvan Lefébure after 88 minutes. Grilled held the ball, with a clear 53 percent of possession.
Most important The Lions player was
罗 (Luo) 子佑 (Ziyou). However,
Azahar bin Shariff made a disastrous appearance.
Chow Ying Lee performed admirably for Grilled.
Yvan Lefébure turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 2 - 4.
