Losers 2 - 6 Grilled
144 punters turned up at The Match Losers Arena, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came.
Ergun Vaiz was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Kjeld Roedkjær and
Fabio Parmeggiani. Losers tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. Lineup: Jafetas - Prílesan, Skrzypczyk, Boesen - 伟坤 (Weikun), Naidu, Wee Wei, Puay Chuan, Guiomar - Orbara, Púrvanov.
Grilled had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Stacey - Tzonkov, Madaini, 俊桂 (Jungui) - Wee Li, Da Teck, Gudivada, Adabala, Yong Yau - 恒才 (Hengcai), 勇航 (Yonghang).
For their match strategy, Losers had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible. Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for Grilled on this day. The referee showed Losers's
Ivan Púrvanov the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. 19 minutes into the game, Grilled had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to
passable. 33 minutes into the game, Grilled seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to
inadequate. With their counter attack move halted 34 minutes into the game, Grilled were left with a free kick. The ball is passed straight through to the other end of the penalty area, with hopes for it to reach
田 (Tian) 勇航 (Yonghang) . However, he didn't have his wits about him and the ball went out. After 38 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as Grilled found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to
weak. Losers were very close to putting themselves one up after 40 minutes as
Jakub Prílesan got through on the left, but failing in concentration, he shot the ball wide. Grilled earned themselves a free kick after a counterattack wasn't dealt with adequately by their opponents.
Qassem Madaini powered the shot in for 0 - 1. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 1. This half belonged to Losers, who controlled the ball 62 percent of the time.
A review of the gameplan helped Grilled get back to a
passable organisation when the referee blew his whistle again. Losers's
Héctor Orbara had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 49 minutes having been played.
Matti Jalonen was the replacement. The Losers free kick 79 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But there was an idea to it - the misdirected ball was turned into a cross towards
温 (Wen) 伟坤 (Weikun), who was waiting for it in the box. That's 1 - 1! Don't forget to thank the assistant coach for that gem of a routine! 89 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Hung Wee Li gave
Paolo Iten a quick hug as he left the field. After 89 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
Mayur Gudivada off the field.
Yvan Lefébure took his place. 89 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution.
Li Boon Boon came on for
唐 (Tang) 恒才 (Hengcai). Grilled claimed to be the more dominant force in the game, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 56 percent.
Still tied after 90 minutes, the match continued into extra time. The Grilled players spent the break getting a rerun of the team's tactical organisation and regained a
solid organisation when the game started again. Losers's counterattacks created a good chance for
Jakub Prílesan on the right, but he could only look on with dismay as his strike rebounded off the crossbar. 107 minutes into the game, Grilled seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a
passable level of organisation. Losers's
Ivan Púrvanov left the field after 111 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was
王 (Wang) 贵泉 (Guiquan). Still tied after extra time, the crowd was buzzing as the teams prepared for a penalty contest to determine the winner.
Clearly nervous from the start, Losers's
Vikas Naidu's attempt sailed far wide of the goal. The score remains 1 - 1. Grilled's
Paolo Iten coolly put the ball past
Vainutis Jafetas. 1 - 2. Overwhelmed by the pressure, Losers's
Choo Puay Chuan put the ball right into the waiting arms of
Dexter Stacey. The scores stays 1 - 2. Grilled's
Yvan Lefébure was relaxed as he smoothly put the ball in the net. 1 - 3! Losers's
Lim Wee Wei drove the ball hard to the corner but couldn't get it past a stretched out arm of
Dexter Stacey. The score remains 1 - 3. Grilled's
Qassem Madaini kept his cool as he faced down
Vainutis Jafetas. His composure paid off as he scored easily for 1 - 4. Losers's

Dexter Stacey made no mistake.
Vainutis Jafetas didn't have a chance. 2 - 5. Losers's

林 (Lin) 俊桂 (Jungui) made no mistake.
Vainutis Jafetas didn't have a chance. 2 - 6.
Gregers Boesen performed admirably for Losers.
Choo Puay Chuan on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating Grilled player was without a doubt
Dexter Stacey.
Teo Yong Yau was a disappointment, however. The match ends 2 - 6.
