Grilled's squad reshuffle, which started early with Valdir Dias Paes' S$7.1 million departure, continued without pause as
Han Lik-Tsun announced the arrival of 31 year-old Portuguese midfielder
Alex Fonseca for just over S$1 million.
"We are always on the lookout for fine local playmakers, but these players are extremely hard to find." Han explained. "One of our contacts recommended Alex, and he happened to fit our current need for another stopgap midfielder, and perhaps as importantly, is happy to fill that role."
Fonseca, who had been courted by Abyssinian Avengers (Swedish Division Four), Per_sifó (Spanish Division Seven), Kíovan Dynamo (Finnish Division Two), FC Dende (German Division Seven) and Real Magica (Italian Division Six), passed the fitness test without incident, and is likely to make his debut against Arrogancae on Sunday.
Grilled have however yet to find a replacement Valdir, being narrowly pipped to highly-rated Chinese goalkeeper Tao Hengcai by French Division Five club Bellesfeuilles, after interest from hantu4ever of Serie A and Shanghai outfit GMT3.
