Calcio For Xie
Eighteen year-old midfielder Xie Guanlun was taken up by Italian Division Ten side Les_calcio_dade on a free, after a long tenure in the Chicken Wings. Xie chose them over Dutch Division Eight outfit FC Baker United, in the belief that he would have a quicker route to first-team football.
Tham Beng Li, who had scouted Xie for the Wings, was slightly disappointed that Grilled received next to nothing for the young hopeful. "Xie was one of the most hardworking kids on the field, and other than having a good pass on him, he's also a natural in the air. His new club have got a real deal there."
Xie, whose dreams of professional football were nearly shattered after being cut after trials with West Coast Tsunami, the youth side of Division Three club Clementi Hustler, was just happy to get a foot in. "I never thought that I would play with an European club." he said. "Hopefully this leads to even bigger and better things."
